Christmas & New Year at Jeake's House

Christmas in Rye is very special and unlikely to be forgotten. Whether you are looking for a quiet, uninvolved Christmas or a busy one we are sure that you will find it a Jeakes House. As we are a small guest house we advise you to book as soon as possible. Bookings over the Christmas period are three nights minimum.

On Christmas Eve you will be made welcome in our sociable, book-lined bar and offered a complimentary drink and a few nibbles at 6.30 p.m.  If, after what may have been a tiring journey, you prefer a solitary drink in the peace and quiet of the cosy parlour, the atmosphere will be just as warm and relaxing.  We are always here to make you feel at ease.

We offer a most substantial breakfast on Christmas Day, and at about 9.30 a.m. Father Christmas is in the habit of popping down the chimney to greet you all and give you a present even if you haven’t been good!  You can always make your escape from the festivities if you feel like it.

Since the only meal we serve is breakfast, we provide a comprehensive list of eating places in the town which are open over the festive season.  As spaces are taken very early, we advise you to book meals well in advance.  If, following a leisurely lunch with all the Christmas trimmings, you really don’t feel like a stroll around our cobbled streets or a bracing walk across the marsh to Camber Castle, you will find the Jeake’s House bar permanently open, a fire blazing in the parlour, and ample board and card games to keep you happy until the evening

Rye at Christmas time is a wonderful place.  Its winding streets are thronged with lights and activity, its old inns are vibrant with history - and local gossip! - and its hilltop views across Romney Marsh are constantly changing under different lights and shades.  Church services in the ancient parish church, with its famous quarter-boys looking down on passers-by, are especially rewarding at this time of year, and the churches and chapels of other denominations are all within easy walking distance.

We look forward to greeting you in Rye this Christmas.
