Bar and Parlour
The dramatic bar provides a comfortable and welcoming place to sit and relax before going out for the evening and the perfect place for a drink before you retire for the night. The granite topped honesty bar is open at all times exclusively for Jeake’s House guests. You are welcome to help yourself to drinks and to make a note on the pad provided so that the cost can be added to your bill on departure.
A folder of sample menus from local restaurants is available to help you find the best food. We also have advice on walks and attractions in Rye and the surrounding areas so you can make the most of your break away.
The characterful parlour contains some of the most elegant features of Jeake’s House. The ancient cellar shelves from when Jeake’s House was a wool store are still visible. In the winter the fire is constantly alight and plenty of board games and cards are provided to while away a pleasant afternoon.
The square piano is a delight to the eye and we are always pleased to hear people playing it. It was built in John Broadwood’s lifetime which makes it very special.
